Food Donation Campaigns

GBI back in West Africa goes on the streets where people are really struggling to offer homemade hot meals to vulnerable populations

Campaign for Albinos

In Mauritania, Albinos are victims of discrimination, social isolation, and face difficulties to find proper medical care for their pathology. Unlike other parts of Africa, Albinos are not targeted for attack or persecution. However, there is no specific legislation protecting Albinos in the country. Albinism is a hereditary condition due to a deficiency of melanin, causing a depigmentation of the skin and hair .It leads to vulnerability to exposure to the sun which can lead to skin cancer and significant visual problems .

GBI is partnering with the association of Albinos in Mauritania to help these vulnerable populations.

Operation Ramadan

During the  holy month of Ramadan muslims are fasting from sunrise to sunset. GBI prepared and distributed 50 meal packages to children and adults living in the streets.

Background and justification:

Like several other countries in the Sahel, Mauritania's nutritional situation is marked by recurrent crises. According to the results of the 2019 SMART survey (Annex 2), the prevalence of global acute malnutrition at the country level was estimated at 11.2% and that of severe acute malnutrition estimated at 1.8%.  Let us recall that malnutrition in children increases the risk of death, causes great physical and psychological suffering that sometimes leaves irreversible sequelae on children's cognitive abilities. In addition, Mauritania also faces a weakness in the health system that struggles to ensure a continuous quality care offer autonomously without external technical and financial support.

Some classrooms are completely dilapidated and there is a lack of school infrastructure. children from the most vulnerable households find it difficult to keep up with their studies due to the lack of school supplies.

Overall objective: To contribute to the improvement of educational infrastructure and the living conditions of vulnerable populations.

The Gift of running water

Some communities called Garza cannot afford to bring running water into their homes . GBI paid for running water to be installed in this poor community.

We help children with their education by providing school supplies in the most remote part of of the world . This non Profit was created by 2 high school friends Mamadou and Alpha. We have a passion of helping the less fortunate but do not have enough ressources .

Helping the less fortunate

This photo is from the school of a locality called Guet Lmiz. This school is surrounded by three villages. There is only one classroom. These localities have low incomes, they only depend on aid to provide for their needs. Their  incomes do not allow them to make expenses for education or health. The only classroom that these localities share, does not have the capacity to accommodate the students, it is very tight; students from different class levels find themselves in a single room.

This is what it is about

Giving back first donation in the village of Guet Lmiz . I can never forget the smiles on these kids faces when we did our first give away.

Giving back is about helping these students , by providing some school supplies and material donations to promote a better learning environment .
